A retro kitchen upgraded to a modern farm house with the cutest touches.
It’s always such a trip to think back to what was and what is. Horton farm house was all black countertops, a angled small island and red builder grade cabinets with red wood flooring. The art in the home was very modern and they had a large glass top modern dining table.
When I asked the client what direction of design they wanted to go for this renovation, they said farmhouse style! So that meant..everything had to be changed out. The flooring, kitchen cabinets, lighting, EVERYTHING.
I brought multiple samples to the table and was able to hone in the design pretty quickly actually. They had very tall ceilings that their existing cabinets did not go to. I wanted to raise the cabinets as high as we could, while turning the island into a large entertaining space and we did just that.
I met with my trusty cabinets designer at Belmont, Katie Falkenhagen and we created a beautiful space.
We went with Belmont cabinet 1600/1900 white shaker for the surround cabinets with butcher block countertops and painted the island a silverplate light grey color with a gorgeous statuario quartz countertop and added large floating shelves.
We used a rustic white 2x6 tile, off set from counter to ceiling to elongate the space.
The island pendants Were a lucky find at Lucky Home, a beautiful boutique home store in Issaquah, Washington.
We added in a large white apron porcelain Kohler sink and used matte black pulls and knobs to finish it off from Build.com.
They had a bay window off the kitchen, so we created a custom bench for seating and added in a small round table to cozy up that nook.
They didn’t have a fireplace so we created one and had built in lower cabinets and shelving for either side of the large brick fireplace. That fireplace brings on some heat and is remote controlled! Win win!
We put in Coretec vinyl flooring through out the space that was both rustic, beautiful and durable for their sweet pup.
All in all, this sweet renovation was seamless and turned out incredible! It’s quite a statement when you walk into their home, not to mention the most easy going, grateful happy clients we have ever had.
